Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is abortion safe?

Abortion is one of the safest medical procedures in the United States. An abortion is safer than having your wisdom teeth removed and around 14 times safer than childbirth.

Can my partner come in during the abortion?

Your partner or support person can be with you during your entire visit, including the procedure itself. The only exception is during your short stay in our recovery room, to protect our other patients' privacy.

Does the abortion hurt?

Most of our patients say no. We offer free IV moderate sedation, sometimes called "twilight sleep," if you prefer to have minimal awareness or memory of your procedure. If you prefer to remain awake for the procedure, our patients report an average pain score of 1.4 on a scale from 0 to 10. You can expect about 45 seconds of strong cramping when your procedure is over.

What should I expect after my abortion?

You may experience some cramping and bleeding. We will give you all the necessary medications and instructions to be comfortable and well informed.
